How do I invite people not on my friends list to an event/Facebook.?

I am having a surprise birthday party and want to invite people not on my friends, but on the honorees friends list. It is a surprise so I don't want the person to know I invited her friends.

im not sure without making it public you could select privacy friends of friends and then ask invities to spread the word and invite to the event page. or you could send a big group text. or do it the old fashioned way and make invitation cards? hope that helps.
