I know people born in 84-88 argue about this regularly on youtube, facebook, twitter, reddit and other sites. Would you consider a person born in 89-91 former 90s kids?

What the hell does "former 90's kid" mean? If you were born in '91 you are considered a 90's kid. Missing the first 3 or 4 years of the 90's does not count.

Who cares? Anyone who spends time thinking about this needs to get outside.

That being said, let's make it simple. if you're born in the 80's, your 80's, if you're born in the 90's your 90's, etc. Anything else is just the ramblings of someone with way too much time on their hands, and a lack of perspective.

A former 90s kid means they were a child in the 90s duh. Yes 91 is like the cut off of being a 90s kid I was born in 82 and I would say anyone born from 82-91 are the true 90s kids not people born in 92-99 sorry. Someone born in 91 would have more in common with someone born in 87 than 94 true fact.

Yes. I consider being a 90's kid as having been a kid during the 90's and having had the majority of your childhood (i.e. 0-12yrs old) take place in the 90's. I define this as having been born between around 1986-94 - i.e. a 90's *child*, not a baby or toddler as would have been the case for people born in say '96 because yes they were *born* in the '90s but truthfully, they didn't experience much of a 90's childhood, as the majority of their childhood (i.e. 0-12yrs old) took place in the 00s. Whereas someone born in '89 was not *born* in the 90's but they had a 90's childhood experience.

Hope this helps

(:

These people are 90s kids because their childhood was in 90s.

Anyone who thinks you are a kid of a decade just because you were born in that decade is ignorant.
Being the kid of a certain decade refers to experiencing the kid culture of that decade {e.g. cartoons, other kid's shows, toys, games, movies...etc.} A person isn't "fully aware" until about the age of 4. A person may remember snippets of information or snapshots of images from their toddler stages, but it's around 4, the beginning of the post-toddler, stage when a person's mind is fully awake. Before this, a baby or toddler's mind is unable to truly appreciate the kid culture experience of that decade, so about the age of 4 is where you should begin. The teenage years begin at 13, so you go up until age 12 is completed.

Whatever decade, a person lived most of their ages 4-12{post-toddler up until they become a teenager}, growing up is the "kid" decade he or she belongs too. Of course some people may borderline on two different decades, if they're close to having spent these ages equally among two decades. Anyone born from 89-90{or 93-94, post-toddler stages}, would have all spent the majority of their 4-12 ages experiencing the kid culture of the 90s. However, someone born in the first half of '91 would technically belong to the 90s decade, but those born in the 2nd half of '91 would belong to the 00s decade. Though, I suppose they could pick which decade they enjoyed the kid culture more of. Born from the 2nd of '81 - 1st 1/2 of '91 would belong to the 90s decade. Born from 2nd 1/2 of '91 - 1st 1/2 of 01 would belong to the 00s decade, technically. Anyone born in '86 are as 90s as a 90s kid can be, as they will spend their ages of 4-12 all in the 90s. Same thing goes for those born in '96 for the 00s decade.
