Be interesting and know lots of people. If you are boring, no one will want to hear what you tweet. If you know nobody, very few people will know that you are saying anything, no matter how interesting.

I suggest get a lot of friends, and tell them you are on Twitter. But don't just tell them, tell them how to be your "Twitter Follower".

Many people don't know how or care how to use Twitter. Take me for example, I'm in the "Don't care how" category of non-Twitter users.
