Does this boy actually like me or is he just playing me?

There's this boy, lets call him Dan. We were introduced by a mutual friend at the begining of the school year and we just started actually talking and interacting with each other this week. I've spoken to him before but never really as friends. Anyways since we started talking he hugs me really tightly. He doesn't just give a regular around the back hug. He wraps his arms around my waist to where his hands are touching my sides and then he pulls me close and hugs me tight. And then he squeezes my sides. I melt every time. T.T

The thing is that last i knew, he had a girlfriend. I'm not sure if they're still together or not which is why im so unsure about him. But he's been flirting with me and asking if he can walk me to class whenever he sees me and always hugs me when he gets the chance and he's so sweet. He even told me i looked beautiful the other day... Today I saw him and we were outside my class but he didn't know that so he asked which class i had and i told him it was that one and he got all sad and said "awwh i wanted to walk you to class but i guess you're already there" and then he gave me a really long, amazing hug and went to his class.

What should i do? How would i find out if he has a girlfriend without asking him directly? (I like to flirt but im not going to if he has a girlfriend already). How do i find out if he's really into me or if he's just being a tease/flirt? Please help.
He doesn't hug me from behind, sorry if you misunderstood that and he's not really "getting physical" either. But yeah i kinda feel like he might be a player but he had a girlfriend for a while and he was really faithful to her and stuff..

Also I've tried looking on facebook and stuff but he doesnt use it often so there's not really anything on that about his love-life

Omfg it's obvious he's playing you. No guy would give out hugs to a girl and get physical after only a week of talking especially hugging from the behind. Trust me he is a player who is trying to play you. Move on from him.

He could be either a big flirt or he really really does like you. I'd say ask some people and see what he's about. Maybe look at his facebook or pictures and see if he does have a girlfriend. If there is no mention that he has one on social media, he is most likely single. So my advice would be to just ask around and find out more about him!

If I were you I'd just ask then you could figure out if he did have a girlfriend hopefully he isn't lying to you
