Can someone explain to me why Facebook stock is worth more than half of total health care costs in the USA by the entire population?
Does facebook contribute to the same order of magnitude to people in the USA as healthcare? Ads |

Yes, surprising isn't it.
Now theists have more of an impact of Facebook (a quick search will prove this) than atheism, so just change your target audience and you are good. Also, comparing a private and public industry is not a good argument, FB is worth that much due to private information and advertisement. |

Because there is no god. No sane and caring deity would allow such a thing.

When the share price is up, there is a lot of imaginary value in multiplying total shares by share price. That is because it is the price paid for the most recent transaction, not all. If everybody at once wanted to liquidate their shares, the share price would plummet.

Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Baidu, etc, derive their income from advertising revenues. If no one uses Facebook anymore, its value would instantly crumble. Market capitalization is not equal to what a company actually has, in terms of actual assets (in dollars) at the moment in time but on the expected revenues it might get in future. That's why we sometimes see Apple's shares going up to $800 but might fall to less than $500/share in any period of time or to even lower level.
During the financial fiasco of 2008, stocks prices lost more than $6 trillion in value. That is to say that the actual worth of those stocks was actually not so much but buoyed by market perception and when the bubble burst, it more or less went back to the equilibrium value. |
