Why is social media the pornography of technological advancement?

Nothing against pornography, its a metaphor.

Social media can be very good but also very bad and unhealthy.

The good things are it gives people a voice and makes it easier to expose corruption or any injustices.

The bad is youth bullying, voyeurism and some people can become additcated and stop interacting with real people face to face.

Ultimately it is whatever you as an individual make it.

I choose not to use Facebook or Twitter so it has no effect on me

Perhaps is just the early stages of "instant" communication.Everyone needing to be seen,heard,made "special".As technology advances people will move onto the next "new"thing. The abuse it gets is for lack of constraints when it comes to "moral" values abuse of language etc.Soon we will be able to tailor our own computers to suit what see want to see and hear.
