how do I create a page on facebook?

PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION BEFORE ANSWERING, DO NOT REPLY WITH "i dont knows" or something like that... you dont wanna get reported!

I know how to create a page on facebook, what i dont know is how come some people have it appear like this...

http://www.facebook.com/madonna

instead of this

http://www.facebook.com/pages/madonna (insert strange symbols here)

Mine appear as the second one... cuz the 1st one is take by users... so say I create my profile on facebook that'll be something like

facebook.com/amber

but if i wanna make a page for me, would be facebook.com/pages/amber...

so after possibly covering everything here, how do I get a page to show like the madonna page without the /pages/ thingy??

its gotta be a page cuz it needs to have fans...
hahaha yea its madonna but not only madonna has that, ive seen others i cant recall right now.. :| do you know how to ask for fans on a profile?

Well it is Madonna... but I see what you are saying but I think it is just her profile that seems to show up like a page. Or maybe once you create a page you can ask for fans on profile.

Step 1
Log into your Facebook account. Note you will need a valid Facebook account before you can add a page to Facebook. If you do not have an account please sign up at http://www.facebook.com.
Step 2
Scroll to the bottom of any Facebook page and click the Advertising link.
Step 3
Click the Pages tab than the Create a Page button.
Step 4
Choose a category and give it a name.
Step 5
You're all done. All you need to do is add content. By clicking the Edit Page link just under the page pic.
