Numbers allowed in Twitter followers and following?

Just a question about Twitter. I am a premium member of Twitter and something that uses Twitter adds followers for me I am always following them back. What I want to know is I am at 43.000 now and have been stuck there for three days fluctuating between 42.900 and 43.290 the annoying thing to me is with the premium service I should be pulling in 2.000 every 24hours I am following 8.500 and have stopped for now as I think it is cos of that that I have stopped gaining followers. So my question is is there a limit as to how many I am allowed in total in both boxes am I not allowed more than 5.000 in total in both boxes. Will it change if I unfollow some people. I don't want to do that as it is wrong.

You can follow as many people as you want and it is an unlimited number to how any people can follow you. Sometimes when you gain alot of followers at once twitter can't catch up and the number will freeze. It should be fixed within a week, if not you should send twitter report an email and tell them your issue. I had to do that a few times.
