Why is the"#" now a hashtag?
I don't understand. Growing up it was the number sign. Then it was the pound sign. Now it's a hashtag. Why do we keep changing the name of it? IM SOO CONFUSED!

Yup, number sign and pound sign. Now with all this texting it has to have a fancy name and meaning. Hashtag is my least favorite word. I find it so annoying and can't stand when I see people use it or refer to it in some way. It is silly, but I just find it so ridiculously absurdly over used!

It's been called "hash" in computer circles for a long time. A hashtag has the symbol followed by letters.
