Making friends on Facebook?

So I'm new in a small town and I would like to make new local friends. I have a number of friends already, but they are much older than me, and I am looking for people to hang out with. What is a non-creepy way of getting to know new people on Facebook?

I don't know if you can see the interests of some people you would like to contact. It could be a good/non-creepy way to contact someone who has posted something you like as well and then talk about it. Don't ask to hang out in the first question.

I'm thinking of the same taste in music, or a hobby, etc.
