what will happen to Congressmen in the age of Facebook?
Just wondering what will happen when people do Google searches and find their Congressman smoking a doobie when he was 16 or saying that "justin beiber is an Fing Ahole gay guy" and now he's saying that he's pro gay. (said as an example). Won't what they said on Facebook effect who people vote for? I wouldn't want some guy who was smoking pot and banging women in college like crazy with no regard to be representing my country or my state.

Social media has already been making headlines about employers doing searches on Employees.. sometimes hiring or even firing people.. or not hiring depending on the pictures available to the public. I dont really think congressmen will be that stupid to put silly stuff on a FB account.. now they might get busted doing that stuff and reported on blogs or media. The only other thing would be someone snapping a picture and putting it on their own FB accounts.

In the end.. Social media has changed the landscape of personal privacy.

The voters returned Marion Barry to office as mayor of Washington D.C. four years after he went to prison for smoking crack WHILE MAYOR... so I doubt much is going to change in the future.
