Why are liberls so against securing borders first?
I just saw an ad on Facebook where a politician said "close borders first, then talk about immigration." There were a lot of liberal comments against this and a handful of them said there needs to be immigration reform first, some mentioning amnesty.

Nope. We need to close our borders first. If liberals want amnesty before closing our borders, I say let them wait until hell freezes over and don't agree to a damn thing.

Even if they did agree to it, who could trust them to keep their word now?

Because their standard strategy is to get what they want now in return for promising to give you something in the future when they have no intention of following through. They did it Reagan's immigration reform and they routinely do it with spending bills. "Give us the tax increases now and we'll do the spending cuts next year" "Give us amnesty now and we'll secure the border next year" etc

Why are republicans refusing to READ the bipartisan immigration reform bill, which REQUIRES the border to be completely built and prove secure BEFORE any illegal can apply for citizenship, and only after they have all waited behind all of the people who came here legally?

As you will recall, Reagan provided blanket amnesty. Liberals have repeatedly called for completing the fence and securing it with border patrol.

There is no way you can close the borders 100%. For example, we do have very long sea coasts. Also, many come in through checkpoints, but never leave.
The Republicans are using this ploy so that they can say they want immigration reform, thus gaining some Hispanic vote, but denying it because of the border issue.
