It's my understanding that once you accept the new profile, you can't go back. I also read that all profiles will be changed to the new on by the first of the year.

delete it
you log into facebook then you find the delete my profile page and it gives you a date when your profile is deleted |

according to the ceo of facebook this profile update will be a forever thing. everyone will switched over even if they agree or not.

Unfortunately there is no way to switch back to the old design after you upgrade to the new Facebook profile. As Facebook is implementing this change gradually, sooner or later all the users will have the new profile, and there is no way back from it.
