Facebook Friend Questions?

is it customary to say happy birthday to friends that you might not know on facebook? (i know that sounds stupid)
AND is it weird to introduce yourself to people through facebook? if it not, then how would i approach that?

What i do is
"happy birthday"
enough said.. they will think it is nice that you are caring but not to pushy like
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" or "happy birthday!!!"

Not everyone says happy birthday to friends they don't know. That usually doesn't happen.

It is a bit odd to introduce yourself through Facebook in my opinion.

It's nice to say happy birthday to friends you don't know or friends that u really don't talk to i do that all the time! And no its not weird to introduce yourself on facebook I do that to people who seem like they are interesting to meet.
