How could bandwagons, euphemisms, and fear be used in a political campaign?

fear, you mean like the threat of nsa watching all your online activities and then obama sending a drone t o neutralize you if you defy him ? I live in great fear what these scum bags are doing. I understand protecting America from terrorists,l but that does not allow an agency to become the new Stazi.

They HAVE been used since the beginning of the country, at least after George Washington, that is. Bandwagons may have showed up a few years later though.

Bandwagons are attention-getting displays that draw a crowd of passerby to spread a message. The bandwagon of today would be social media and personal appearances. Euphemisms are coded words that stand for other, less acceptable words. For instance, "That guy sure looks HAPPY. A little TOO happy". Could be construed to mean he is drunk. In politics, it allows a candidate to make a denigrating remark without taking responsibility for the veiled meaning (me? I never said you were DRUNK!) It can even be flipped to attack the person that was initially attacked: "You're putting words in my mouth! How could you!" For fear, you need look no further than the power of walking into a room, looking at a person within it, widening your eyes, pointing at their shoulder and breathlessly saying "Spider!" The reaction is powerful and instantaneous. It requires no facts, no logic, no rationality and no rationale. It hits the voter in the gut and, when done convincingly, can sway the less informed of them that the assertion of something to fear MUST BE TRUE.

Hope this helps.
