I don't have a facebook because I don't like sites like myspace or any of that. however they are known to have ads along the the borders of the site. Like, "punch bush in the face to win an ipod". yeah as long as you don't click any of those then there are no viruses and it is completely safe to be on.

It is completley safe, secure, and no viruses can get through via applications, but if your not sure or do not have a firewall or a saftey programme then i would delete my account, or get rid of and reject applications, they could be dodgy, x < take my advice >

you will not get any viruses from using the facebook website. The advertisements on the sides of the pages are usually verified by facebook so you shouldnt find any dodgy ones.
facebook takes many safety measures such as displaying your email address as small image rather than as text, so web crawlers cant scan through pages collecting email addresses for spam.
the web platform that the applications use is relatively secure and they cannot access your computer.

I think facebook is safe site because of privacy any other person can't send you anything except messages. Like orkut people can send links containing harmful sites or viruses.
