Roof collapsed! Need ideas to raise money! Please help!?
Okay so in Nova Scotia a barn & business had some very bad luck over the holidays! It is a horse riding barn! It stables about 22 horses and here in nova scotia we have got a significant amount of snow & ice! & this barn suffered the worst! The whole roof of a hay building connected to the indoor riding area and stalls, the whole roof has collapsed! The insurance will not cover the cost the rebuild the 200, 000 dollar fix because it is "classed as a preventable accident" the owners are my second mom and dad & it breaks my heart because they have done nothing but nice things for people no matter what! She has never gotten mad or rude at anyone and same with her husband! There is a benignity dance and auction and also donations can be made also! This girl has done soooo much for me! She teaches about 40 kids a week in riding lessons and she thought my mom riding and my mother traveled around Canada with her just to show horses! She is honestly the best teacher/nicest person ever and the sure as hell don't deserve this! My parents were in a tough time at one point and I had to be pulled out of lessons but because I know her very we'll as well as my parents and grandparent she is my second mother and she wouldn't let that happen! She gave me free lessons at a cost of about 30$ a lesson and I am so great flu for her in my life but now at a rough time for her I need ideas to help raise money! My mom has thought about a basket to buy and put stuff in and all proceeds go to the "raise the roof" toward helping with the cost! I need ideas of what I could put into the basket and also other ways I can make money for the cause! She is so loved and doesn't deserve this ! They have made a Facebook page called "friends of redwood stables" yesterday it has already hit over 1000 likes and donations can be made from it shortly!! Thank you for the help
I am not trying to raise money off of this site my question was asking of ways I could raise money to help the problem! Like a car wash or shovelling driveways I'm asking for ideas to help!!!

It is against the Yahoo rules to solicit money. All you can do is help raise some money to help your friends. Also, check with your religious institutions.

Good Luck.

That's quite a bit of money to raise by yourself. The owners should contact a lawyer and have them go through their policy and the findings of the insurer to see if indeed the collapse was due to maintenance issues and/or if the loss was truly excluded. If this turns out to be a dead end then I would suggest getting the media involved in your fundraising efforts. Local media love these hard luck stories and the more exposure you get the more people are willing to donate. You may also want to try and rally the horse riding/stabling/breeding community not only in Nova Scotia but across Canada to see what they can give. Make sure there is a bank account open that is used solely for depositing donation money so people can deposit funds directly and a proper accounting can be made (Canada Revenue may get involved if the figure becomes large so a proper accounting is essential)..
