Does she like me and what should I do?

Just before the Christmas holiday, I gave my crush a box of chocolates and she was so surprised she said "Oh my god! Aww! Thanks Will!". She's never had a boyfriend before and I haven't had a girlfriend before. She's shy, kind, smart and very friendly. She now knows I like her and she is quite shy to speak to me now but whenever I talk to her she becomes really shy and I notice she gives me a bigger smile than she usually use to. She doesn't have Facebook, what's app, BBM etc. We only talk in lessons and we haven't had any moments together. I really like her and I thought of getting her roses for valentines day. Should I get her flowers and do you think she likes me or is she just being friendly?

Like your previous respondent, I am reasonably confident that she likes you. Consider though, shyness is a significant problem for young people and the symptoms can be disabling for developing a social relationship. Flowers sounds a nice idea ad would provide further material evidence of your fondness for her. However, it may be helpful to simply invite her out for a coffee (public place and during the day). Encourage her to speak with you by asking questions (about herself) that are non-threatening and very general). Be a very good (active) listener and be prepared to 'follow up' her answers by expressing your own experiences, likes and dislikes, views and feelings. This is effectively an 'ice-breaker' and should help her relax. Once the mantle of shyness is overcome (and you need to be patient) she will be able to converse more easily and you can really get to know her. Shyness abounds with feelings of anxiety - doing or saying the wrong thing, and sometimes with low self-esteem - with patience and a willingness to see through the 'screen of shyness' you can discover this young women and I suspect you will be very pleased with what you find.
