How can I get my laptop to turn on?

So I have a dell latitude running windows 2000. The other night I was on Facebook, and it just shut down on me, and now it won't start up. I bought it for $65 at a flea market, but it has had issues in the past. Thanks!

it could be a number of things, the only way you'll really know for sure is to have a technician look at it. try a local computer shop or a site like http://www.secureremotesupport.com - i've hired them a few times and they do great work.

one think u can do take out the battery and put it aside for say 1 hour.then put it back and turn it on.
or try the windows start up recovery system when it boots.

If you press the power button and nothing happens, it could be that it's recieving no power. laptops normally work off the mains adaptor even if the battery is shot. Is there a light on the power adaptor, maybe the power adaptor is broken? Failing that, for $65, I wouldn't spend much trying to resurect it because it'll probably cost that much trying to repair it.

If it is starting up but just not getting into windows then it could be a range of problems but try posting a question with the specific error messages.
