Blackberry curve 8520 won't let me download app world or any apps?

I received a blackberry 8520 for christmas and am trying to access blackberry messanger as well as download the apps for facebook and twitter. As far as I know, I need to download "app world" or something in order to access these things. Whenever I try it says "The requested page cannot be displayed"
I changed to a data plan this morning and was told it would take effect immediately. I know that it's working because my browser isnt asking me if I want to pay for the internet. However, I am still unable to download any apps or access my pin for BBM. What can I do?

Those apps (facebook and twitter) make you pay more to use them, even if you are on the data plan. Using these will cost money, so thus for you can not download them. The BBM pin perhaps is a mistake on the company's part, and I would call them ASAP.
