I can't get my Facebook "follow" to work?

Here is Facebook's directions:

Friends follow you automatically and see your posts in News Feed. To allow Everybody to follow you in their News Feed:

Go to your Settings
Click Followers in the left column
Choose Everybody next to Who Can Follow Me?

Big problem, I don't see a "Followers" button in the left column.
What do I do? Am I too young?

You need to be 18 to have the follow button. Reason being is because random people can view your photos and statuses. If you are under the age of 18 then you cannot get the follow button. You can try changing your DOB but I am not sure if that works or not.
