anyone know a way I can get the old facebook profile?
I have just joined facebook and I really don't like this profile, my brother joined ages ago and has the old one...
how can I get the old one?

Sorry, but there is no way to get the old profile back, especially if you're a new user.
Soon everyone's profile will be changed to the new style, whether they like it or not.

Facebook will improve it, they'll get feedback.
Many people are complaining about the loss of the 'box' so this will probably come back.

I heard off someone that you should deactivate your account for 10 minutes and then go back on to it.
Im nor sure if this works but you could try it ?

I do not think you can go back to the old facebook profile.I deactivated my facebook account for a hour and I logged back in and it was still the new one.I want the box on the side back that showed what pages be liked back.

Unfortunately there is no way to switch back to the old design after you upgrade to the new Facebook profile. As Facebook is implementing this change gradually, sooner or later all the users will have the new profile, and there is no way back from it.

Follow the link in the source to read Facebook's statement about this issue.
