how facebook help in marketing?

I want to make a facebook page to promote my product. It's a small business. What page category that's best and can someone give me some idea how to build a market? Thank you.

Need more information. What is the product? Shoes are not marketed the same way as hammers. Who is your market? Men, women, both? Kids, teens, young adults middle age, older, all? Word of mouth is best for building local markets, having mostly outstandingly good reviews are good for building an internet market (and giving away a good product to those who need it most is the best way to get good reviews fast).
