What I mean is, does it some how sub-concisely tell us how to live and what to buy.
Are we distracted instead of getting out and living our lives. Don't get me wrong it's entertaining and all that but does it suck us in and take over our life ( media, social websites, Internet.) There is a lot of good that comes with it but sometimes I feel like I need to wake up and see beyond it all. A different thinking in the way I approach life. Like some sort of a Epiphany

You are looking for more meaning in your life. Don't blame the media, just start looking for something you can do to give your life more meaning and take it from there. Start with volunteer work. Is there an charity you'd like to support? Anything you feel strongly about? If you can figure that out you may meet other people who feel the same. That might give you more than your current relationships.

Of course; the same way religion was used to keep the peasants tame so they would waste their lives working endlessly, society in general is still trying to do that through other means. Many people understand this, and it can be used to an advantage in a lot of cases (technological advances, etc.) make escaping it both impossible AND undesirable. The majority of people nowadays would not be able to survive in the wild (especially now wild animal numbers are dwindling and protected) and therefore rely on society as well as enjoy it.

As long as you don't get completely sucked into the bullshit we're fed every day, be happy things are like this and let the stupid people serve you.

I completely agree with you. I always think that social media, television and the internet are clouding the bigger picture in life. One of the reasons why inspirational people like Mahatma Gandhi are still known today is because they lived in a time where things like that didn't exist, therefore giving them the opportunity to allow themselves more time to ponder...what is the meaning of life?
I think that people are getting way too carried away and focused on things like Facebook, Tumbler and what happened recently on Eastenders or something. Although these things are entertaining and a good way to kill time when necessary, people live vicariously through these things as if they'll eventually have a perfect life because they commented on Bob's wall or they watched the last episode of Coronation Street. I know that in the short term, its good as a means of conversation, but people have to understand that there is so much more to life than what we are living at the moment. There's so much more to discover, learn and appreciate in life, and i think we should all understand that before our life flashes before our eyes.

ps. sorry to be morbid lol Smile
