My Wii won't confirm my friend's Wii friend code. Why not?
I have a Wii family edition (the black one without GameCube ports) and I am trying to add my friend's Wii code. We have added each others' friend codes and tried WiiConnect24 with and without standby and we also tried leaving our Wii consoles on for extended periods of time, with no luck.
I heard Nintendo was discontinuing portions of the Wii console's online functionality, including WiiConnect24. Would this have an impact on us adding each other? Is adding Wii friend codes still supported by Nintendo? Thanks. Ads |

Nintendo plans on shutting down Wii online services this year as well as discontinuing the Wii in North America (discontinued everywhere else in the world). Once shut down, your Wii won't be able to go online anymore. Nintendo is focusing on Wii U. I recommend Wii U because it's their new system. Lots of great games out now and coming this year. And it also plays all Wii games, so it's two systems in one. Wii U is a great social system because of Miiverse. It's like Nintendo's Facebook. You can meet and make friends, send friend requests, post drawings, give hints, post screenshots from games, and ask for help on a game. Very fun. No more friend codes. You can even video chat with your friends on Wii U using the gamepad controller since it has a camera built in the front. I definitely recommend one.
