Have you tried Ad Block Plus? it blocks all ads,not just political, in all websites (facebook,yahoo etc.)
Hope thats what you're looking for.

Learn how to set up your web browser. Most now have a preference for killing pop-up windows.

You are your own best defense against garbage on the internet. Take an hour or two to learn about web browser self defense.
