ASPERGER SYNDROME AWARENESS?
https://www.facebook.com/AspergerSyndromeAwareness

This is a Facebook page dedicated to raising awareness and eventually acceptance of Asperger Syndrome/autism.

My question is: What do you think of the page, and how do you think it can be improved?

Also, if you DO like it, feel free to join our community Smile

Nice site.
Needed. I especially like the links to bullying prevention.

Some warnings.
Keep up the anonymity part. Some people are especially vulnerable.
Keep in mind that this is a spectrum disorder. Each human is an individual. Careful about overgeneralizing.
Careful about compartmentalizing.
Realize that just about every human has something a bit "wrong" with them. Successful people learn to live with and deal with these issues so that they can be happy and successful. What success is varies. But understanding that people have issues and difficulties does not equate with pity or excuses for "bad" behavior. We all need to support, respect, and help each other so that each of us can be a full human being. All humans have issues, difficulties, and also special abilities.
Each of use is unique. Each of us can achieve something good. Each of us can choose to be happy and successful at something good. Isn't that amazing!
I don't like the words handicapped and disabled. As humans, we each have a different set of abilities and challenges. We are all special.
Wouldn't the wolrd be boring if each of us was just alike.

The white male with glasses seems like a stereotype. Maybe make it more representative of reality. I think it's especially harmful to those suffering from it, not to represent AS in a more clear and accurate manner. You could also include some information on what it is, and your mission to raise awareness.

There should be a clear and visible disclaimer that Asperger's and autism are not the same thing. And one explaining that Asperger's is a spectrum and so not all everyone who has been diagnosed will be the same. Otherwise increased awareness and education are a good idea.
