IPod 3rd Generation 8gb Apps?

I got a Ipod 3rd generation, 8gb. It is being fixed but before I put anymore money into it I want to make sure it will work with my apps. So the few I a most concerned about are - Temple run, Facebook, Facebook messenger, Text+, and I think that's it. Will is run these apps? And what other apps will it run? My sister has a 2nd gen. It can't run pretty much anything... the IOS is to low. Will this have a high enough IOS?

By the way, the so-called 8GB iPod Touch 3rd generation is really a 2nd generation.
