Can i friend my old teacher on facebook?

I am in 6th grade and i had a really nice teacher in 3rd grade and i want to friend her on facebook. Is that illegal

She will probably decline. My Mum declined all requests while she was still teaching. [She retired in July!]

I'm in High School and usually my teachers say once you are no longer their student they will accept it or once you graduate.

Friendship has never been termed to be illegal at any instance and any criteria. But I doubt that your teacher will accept your friend request. At least I would not have acceptted friend requests from my students if I were a teacher. :-P
