Why can't I see my friend's wall on Facebook?

So I was pretty close to this person last year but not so much this year. I went to look at my messages for them and noticed that their profile picture is an envelope, their name no longer leads me to their wall, and I can't search their name at all. Are they blocking me? I'm a little bit upset by this. Please tell me what is this.
