question about facebook?

ok this isn't really a facebook question, but I figured people who use facebook a lot might know this. This is a question about Hangtime.

I got a text from a number I didn't recognize saying that my friend shared and even with me on Hangtime. I went to the exact site it told me to and it popped up with his name and a movie night event. Does this mean he invited me to go? He's not even hosting it, but if I got a message saying he shared an event with me, does that mean he invited me?
