How is it possible to hide our profile on Facebook?

I think I have some friends who succeed in hiding their profile on Facebook. It's impossible to find them by the search tool at the top of the page. What they do before on our page doesn't exist anymore. And after, everything reappear like that.
After that, it caused my curiosity. How is it possible to disappear and reappear? Which tool do we have to use? Maybe it's only a technical problem or update on Facebook?

well if you want to know how to hide your profile - so others cant see your pics and things then when you have signed in you need to go to the top right hand corner and click on my account then click on privacy settings - - - in here you can adjust the people who can view your profile - and set it that only your freinds can see everything meanwhile there is also another tool (dont know what it is under) - where you can remove yourself from the freind finder - where everyone can llook - but you can remove this if you dont want people to find you x

set ur Profile t private, only can get in with PW, give u friends t PW.

perhaps they're deactivated their profile in order no one can't find them on facebook include their friends.
just click on account > account settings > deactivate account.
notes that you can activate your account everytime you sign in to facebook again.

if you want hide your profile from one not listed in your friend list, you can go to Account > privacy settings > view settings > then set 'Search for me on Facebook' to 'Friends Only' in order that only your friends can find your facebook profile.
