Why has my Blackberry done this?

I bought a Blackberry Curve 9320 about 4 hours ago and when i got home i set it up and everything, i logged into the facebook and twitter already on my phone and they worked fine (i connected to my wifi connection) i have a stand in Sim while waiting for my GiffGaff Sim.. so i know that BBM wont work. but after a while my Facebook and twitter apps wont work, i can browse the internet and that im just wondering is like the Facebook and Twitter part of the blackberry services?

I guess you will need the BIS data plan,extra £5 per month,on top of your texts&minutes,twitter
the facebook thing along with messenger....these are all apps and you need to pay for apps,don't
seem to work on wi-fi,wi-fi don't need data,but applications do..
