Depression. Please help??
I've battled depression for years, but lately it's gotten much worse. It's being triggered by thoughts of my ex, despite the fact that I was the one who ended it and that I don't feel right with him.

Last night on Twitter, one of his friends made a post stating: "I love how all my female friends find *name* attractive", followed by another one of my followers(female) also stating he's cute. Which would be, most likely, to make me jealous.

This destroys me because before me, no one even knew who he was. No one would have ever given him the time of day, especially not a female.

This hurts to the point where I snap and I can't sleep or do anything but want to kill myself to get away from it all. I realize this is irrational, but in the moment nothing seems more desirable.

Please help me deal with this so it doesn't control me - or lead to any permanent results.

I love my ex, but I think the issue is that I'm more in love with the idea of him than I am in love WITH him.

Thanks in advance!

Firstly I wanted to say that you are probably over analysing the situation with the Twitter post. Unless you hang out with horrible people, they probably aren't trying to make you feel like crap. But I get it, you do anyway. Happens to me too. Even friends that love you can post things without thinking about how it can affect you.

Heres my solution. This is how I deal with everything when I feel awful. The fact that you can't do anything is not helping. If you feel terrible, the first thing to do is clear your mind. Stop thinking, analysing and brooding and go somewhere with a close friend. Go hiking or bowling or something that will take your mind off it. I think a lot of depression comes from laziness. As soon as you do something physically active you will feel better. Next, you need to treat your ex, in a sense, like an addiction. You can't just throw away and addiction, you need to replace it. Find a new hobby, a new passion, a new thing to enjoy and occupy yourself with. Soon you will notice that can be happy without him, and later you will not even need him anymore. Really hope this helps you

Stop focusing on the negatives.
Its always darkest before the dawn.

Depression can ruin your sleep.

Sleeping pills can give you bad side effects such as headaches and drowsiness during the day so you are better off without them.

To sleep better just relax and switch off, if you can.

If you are having trouble switching off at bedtime some light exercise (for example, push ups or sit ups) at bedtime often helps you to relax, unwind and switch off and that often improves your sleep. Strenuous exercise at bedtime is likely to ruin your sleep.

Common OTC sleep aids include Chamomile tea, 5-HTP, Melatonin and Valerian Root.

Sleep enhancing foods include warm milk, turkey, cherries, oatmeal, bananas, wine and others as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22s...fr=ush-ans

You can see further tips in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22h...fr=ush-ans which tells you "how to fall asleep and stay asleep".
