so this twitter thing lol...just started, 18 followers or something. what am i doing wrong?

got on here a little while ago. aside from my few immediate friends, how do i get followers?

Alright, this is going to contain quite a bit of information but bear with me. Dx Depending if you're like me, you don't want to follow a lot of people; you just want a lot of followers. If so, this will work perfectly for you! Bad thing is, you still need to work at it. :/

First thing is first: change your password.

Change it to something simple but not too easy; you're going to see why in a minute (you can change it back to the old one after).

Okay, so first thing first is to join these Twitter trains (just google: "Twitter follower trains" for more):

After you did everything they told you to, you probably noticed that they posted some stupid message like, "More Twitter followers..." or something on Twitter, right? Well you can easily delete that if you hover over the tweet and click on the garbage can.

ONE thing I noticed about these trains was that, if you change your password, they stop sending those messages and you get to stay on the train! So they don't spam you yet, you still get tons of followers. It helps if you join more. c:

You're probably following a lot of people too... sad to say but if you don't want them, you're going to have to manually un-follow them. It seems time consuming but that's only if you DON'T want them. If you do then just leave them; just be aware of Twitter's rule that you can't follow too many people at one time (they delete your account thinking you're spam).

To save you some trouble anyways, you can use this site to automatically unfollow people who aren't following you (this is a downfall if you're following a locked account or something); it'll clear the list fast and make it easier to narrow your follower count even further: http://huitter.com/mutuality2/

Another thing you can do is join a lot of sites for Twitter that promote your profile like:

http://www.twellow.com/ (helps you find local tweeters)
http://justtweetit.com/

They're all handy websites that also help you find people with the same interests as you (in case you were LOOKING for people to follow).

Another way to make devoted followers is simply to @reply to random people; the Public Timeline is a great place to start:
