How do i get rid of the inappropriate adverts that cover my facebook page?

I have recently had loads of ads appear all over my facebook wall/when i click on a picture/on friends walls etc. Most of the ads are really inappropriate (explicit pictures for dating sites which i don't even think exist etc) Obviously these are not what i want to see all over my facebook, and they also make it run really slowly, but i don't know how to stop them because there is small writing under each one saying ''ads not by facebook/this site''. Does anyone else have this problem, and more importantly, how do i get rid of them!? Thanks.. URGENT REPLY NEEDED!!!!!
These ads are not just on facebook, they are on all sites i go on.. including this one...

Those ads are being inserted by whats known as "adware", see here for more info: https://www.facebook.com/help/adware
