Regarding "Babes for Troops"?
I've noticed a lot of facebook pages and organizations that support troops by exploiting pictures of sexy women for troops to look at? I guess? As a female soldier and Iraq Campaign Veteran, I am a tiny bit offended. Not only do I never see anything like this for the FEMALE troops (as if there are none) but I almost feel like I am not good enough compared to these women because I have to wear a uniform every day instead of prance around in my underwear like a whore. Am I totally overreacting or does anyone feel like I make a little bit of sense with this?

As a woman who has had crushes on her fellow soldiers, it kind of makes me sad to see them more interested in stuff like this than me and their reason is because no woman looks good in uniform.
It's not because I want to look at something like that but I wish people would pay more attention to the fact there are women in the military and it's not just a man's Army anymore. We're expected to do everything a man does (besides infantry) and we tend to hold ourselves to a higher standard, as women.

There are simply more men in the military than women, and so these sites/organizations cater to them. Like Madison Avenue says, "Sex sells."

As to your comment "...no woman looks good in uniform," I beg to differ. I have seen my share of women who filled out a set of BDU's rather nicely. Sorry if that came across as sexist, but I'm just being honest.

having spent 6 years in the army and my fair time in afghanistan i believe you may be overreacting. unfortunately for women like you who are not whores in the army, the overall perception of females in the military in general is that they are. you are in the minority and you are not expected to do everything a man does in a practical sense, maybe on paper but definitely not in reality. a fine example of this is the PT test, sure some women can do the same amount of push ups and sit ups and running as a man, but they arent expected to, a female having 2 to 3 more minutes in a pt test run to pass is a really big difference. now lets not forget the army regulations on how many personnel can lift a container of a certain size, i dont remember the numbers exactly but a 40 lbs container is a 2 man lift and 3 woman lift.
this is the perception that women are not equal to men in physical terms, with that you have a male army that is male dominated and yes there are high ranking female officers, even a general or 2 if i recall, but the face of the army is a mans.

If it helps the war effort, and troop morale out forward, I can send you a picture of me in a thong. I believe in equality.
