Facebook Notifications? Help!?

Hi!
So on facebook, recently my notifications have just stopped working.
The only notifications i get are the ones where people like leave smiles on my page?
And i went to my account settings and all and it says that i still should be getting notifications, but i don't!
It is very frustrating! I have to get them all sent to my phone because i don't get them on my little notification box thing.
Does ANYONE know what to do?!

not sure if you already tried this but-

click the little notification symbol thing, and go to where it says "See All"
and make sure all the notifications you WANT to get are checked off
