I think this guy is asking me out, but I'm not interested?

I'm in college, and there's a guy who I saw once a week last year for this meeting that I'd go to. He was pretty rude during these meetings, and a lot of the times would fight what I would have to say. While he was studying abroad, he'd message me on facebook and talk to me. I didn't think anything of it until recently. He asked me to go to coffee with him, and I told him that I'd check my schedule. Just right now, he asked me again and the conversation went like this:

Him: Hey [my name], did you still want to get that coffee? I'm free later today.

Me: I'm actually at home right now and I won't be back until later tonight right before the [meeting name here].

Him: Ah, well I'm just getting up to campus atm

When's the next time you're free?

Me: I'm not really sure. Thesee past couple of weeks have been pretty hectic, and my sister is coming up to [college town name here] for the weekend. If anything frees up, I'll let you know.

Sorry about that!

Him: Alright.


I thought I was making it clear that I wasn't interested, but I don't think he understands. Am I not being direct enough? I'm also pretty sure that he's asking me out, but if he isn't asking me out and he just wants to catch up, then I'm not opposed to meeting up with him. He's a little rough around the edges, but not a "bad guy" per se. I'm just in no way interested in dating him, and I don't want to lead him on. Was he asking me on a date, or not? What do I do? Please help!!

Just keep putting him off, because he asking you on a date in his mind.

How about you do something totally unexpected
tell him the truth that you are not interested that you dont want to date him
if you keep making excuses he will think you are playing games and he needs to work harder
