Are people becoming more selfish and distant in life because of techonolgy?
The girl im dating (and i say that losely) were arguing the other day about (her side) how facebook seperates people and makes them less distance and less dependant of face to face conversation and is breaking up their communication skill. I myself had always had a problem with caller ID and my argument was ever since people can see actually who is calling they have been becoming more and more distance and controlling. Cause before (incase people don't remember) you had to have phone manners and answer the phone with "hello this the ....... residence" and you couldn't screen your calls.

It seems no people pick and choose who they talk to and when. Im not saying this wrong or right. Im not talking about anybody my girl will let her own mother go to voicemail or her brother. Texting a person has become more convient for "what do you want".

Yes it has, teenagers are becoming more droned and more ADHD like, because they always need constant stimulation. They always need their phone or ipad, etc.Talking to people face to face is getting harder for some people too, because who needs to go to the store when they can just get it online. Or who needs to call someone for pizza when they can just order it online. And not only that, social media and technology is also making everyone very opinionated. All over facebook you just see fights and arguments, and highly ignorant statements because they feel like they can say whatever they want on the internet, Therefore losing friends because of one opinion when they most likely would not say that out loud in real life. Social media is like sheep herding. Yahoo news can post an article on someone doing something a bit stupid, but back in the day would never make "headline news" and if 5 or 10 people start to agree or disagree on what that person did, then 40 more people like, etc and so on. And all the sudden it becomes viral.

So yes I believe technology and social media helped in some ways for long distant relationships, families, more access to info, but I also think it is destroying social communication skills and life slowly but steadily.
