Did I do a douchey thing on Facebook?
I had some arguments on Facebook about Phil Robertson and tolerance. I made some of my friends (not involved in the debate) from years ago mad, and they defriended me.

I have an app that shows me who defriends me.

I made a status update that tagged them and apologized for offending them, saying I valued their friendship, and wished them a Merry Christmas.

I know I could have sent a private message.

Is it a douchebag move to call them out by tagging them like that?

Whoa! You have to be careful what you say when it comes to sensitive stuff like that. I'd try to regain the friendships. It would be a shame to lose them over that Phil Robertson thing.

If they were really your friends they would respect your opinion

Not going to lie, that does seem douchey. They simply defriended you... You said you aren't close friends anymore... Just leave it. They didn't make a big deal out of it and you shouldn't have either... Delete the status... They probably don't want that drama on their newsfeed, (might have been their reason for defriending)

If they defriended you just because you have a different opinion that they don't agree with, you don't need to apologize. If you strongly believe in something, then stand your ground. You will find new friends who will accept you.

But they defriended you just because you said something totally mean and personally insulted them, then I am sorry you totally deserved it. In that case, you were putting them on spot and attacking their character in public. You can learn to express your opinion without necessarily offending others.
