What happens when you hide a status from your timeline ...?

I hid mine and checked it from another page and its no longer showing up. Is it officially deleted? Can people still like it from their own pages even though its floating around in facebook lala land?

"Hiding" it does just that, hides it. It does not delete it.
Depending on how long it has been on Facebook, it might take a while for it to actually hide but it will.
It will, however, still show up in your friends' news feeds.

The "Delete" option will delete the item if that is what you wish to do.
