How to apply for Twitter, Google, etc...?
Hi, I am currently not in school at the moment but I am working as a receptionist. But I would love to work for the big named companies such as Twitter, Google, Apple, etc.. I honestly do not want to waste my time in community college going through the same courses I've met in highschool, but I want to get hands down experience that works in the field Im looking for. Are there any schools or courses that will teach me things I would need to know in order to apply to those companies? I know it sounds so far out. I'm also from the Bay Area, so these companies are actually pretty close to me. I just want to know what I could major in? Thanks

If you are asking the question here, I would look beyond the tech companies as they won't hire you.

Consider calling some of the companies to inquire about hiring requirement/qualifications first. There would be no need to take any courses if the company doesn't even require a certain skill, it will be a waste. But since you are a receptionist it may be helpful to take microsoft or apple's course(s) in their pc programs, mostly excel and access (im not sure of the program apple has that are comparable to either). Also, courses in telecommunications/communications, databases, or management information systems, can certainly make you more marketable and help you further understand some parts of the job and how they effect the company.

These companies will most likely require a bachelors degree. You will have to know someone in the company to get a job there. Even with excellent credentials you need to find a headhunter or a mutual friend.

They hire people with degrees in finance , administration, hardware engineering, marketing, human resources and graphic design.. (although not that many with graphic design.).
