I need a Angel Investor?
I have a design for a new social network. I have spent over a year researching and designing the structure of the site. The market I am going into is untapped and I need help funding the start up. There are allot of websites that you have to pay to be a member of and then they want you to tell them you ideal. I need help! If anyone knows who invest in social media please point me in the right direction. Thanks
The site would have full facebook intergration. The thing with my site is that is hits a huge market that no one knows about.

Go to your local meetup.com and look up the meetings for local social innovators and start dropping in to the meetups. Get to know the people there to the point where you might trust them enough to tell them your idea and perhaps they may be able to help raise the investments needed. It's all about networking and people, very much as a social network is as well.

Keep in mind that there are millions of social networks out there and the current problem isn't having an idea to tap a niche market but rather convergence of identity amongst the various social media websites. If you're expecting people to create an account and sign up with you then forget it but if you are planning to cooperate with Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and OpenID to allow people to use their login across sites than perhaps you have something. Remember most of Farmville's players have FaceBook accounts not Farmville accounts and there's a reason for that.

Another point is that the reason why innovation is occurring on the net is because very little investment is needed to get started, if you are approaching the issue from the perspective that you need money to develop it then perhaps you're barking up the wrong tree, the main advantage that a new social network would have is how little capital is required other than the donation of your time and effort. If you need more than that, then perhaps it's not meant to be.

Nope, you're trying to make Facebook 2.0. It will NEVER work.

On the other hand, I'm coming up with a totally new social networking idea. I'm working with computer science professors in the University of Alberta.

So we'll see who has the next billion dollar social network site.

You should try the Mid-Atlantic Investment Network (http://www.midatlanticinvestmentnetwork....epreneur), who have a lot of private investors and business angels looking for projects like this.

The first step is to register at http://www.midatlanticinvestmentnetwork....reneur/20. After registering you will be able to submit your proposal, which we will then send out to our network of investors.

Best wishes,

Mike
