Is it possible for somebody to know you've been looking at their profile on Facebook?
For a while I've been looking at an acquaintance's profile on Facebook. I don't want to add her as I don't think I know her well enough and it could cause some awkwardness. It's really not creepy. I just get curious as to what she is up to as her life is more interesting than most people's and have a quick look on her profile most days. It's not obsessive - she blocked her profile from public viewing a while ago for a good three months and it didn't bother me.

I just wonder if it is possible she can find out I've been looking at her. I really wouldn't want her to know.
No, just curious. She's got a really interesting job and gets up to some really stuff... I just like finding out what she's been up to. Like I said, she blocked her profile once lol.

And it would be quite inappropriate to add her. Long story why.

Umm your not alone I do this my self hehe!
I'm curious aswell to know if they can see you access there profile, I doubt it though because half the applications on facebook which promise you can see who ever view's your profile, DOES NOT WORK! I know I've joined almost everyone lol.

no. there have been a lot of fake apps and fan pages that claim to be able to do it, but these are fake. facebook's platform doesn't let you put html code which is usually necessary for a tracker.

If they don't have one of those apps installed, they definitely can't see that you are looking at their profile.

If someone has their profile open to public view, then they probably don't mind that people can see them, if you are worried about people peeking in at you, then you can protect who sees what on your profile with the security settings.

You seem to be more than just curious about her if you are viewing her that much you are interested in her life. And it would only be fair to add hers you never know you may end up to be good friends. And if it does not work out you can always block her. But to answer your question, it is not made public but, yes if need be that information can obtained but usually at the request of a law enforcement agency.

Facebook doesn't allow people to track who views their profiles. Facebook applications, on the other hand, are unable to track anybody unless they have the consent of the viewer.

Follow the source to see the Facebook's statement about this issue.
