how do delete a facebook account?

You must deactivate it and in 2 weeks it will delete itself. You can go to settings and at the bottom of the screen there is a button

and once you click the button, i believe there is a 1-3 month period before your account is actually deleted
this is because most people who delete their account go back to it in 1 month or so
So you'll have to wait for it to be "truly" deleted

Contrary to the above, deactivating does NOT delete your facebook account, but rather that just allows you to temporarily hide your profile which you can then reactivate at a later date, simply by logging in.
