Are One Direction just a trend like the jonas brothers?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a directioner, but I've heard on numerous occasions like on tumblr and twitter that they are just a trend. Much like the jonas brothers... they used to be so popular in '09 and now you barely hear of them. People stalked them and hunted them down too....
Do you think One Direction is a trend, or that they are here to stay?

I'm sorry but pop music in general is very shallow, mostly because its based more on fashion and looks than actual music, which is why most of it is autotuned and not even using real instruments.

I'm sorry to say but this is true for one direction too, they only got famous coz they look great, but only 2 of them can actually sing well (Go and watch their x factor audition to hear them un-autotuned, its terrible)

One direction are not the stuff that classic bands are made of. As soon as they grow up and start to look a bit older, they won't be as popular. Their popularity is already dying, you can tell. Their songs are barely played on the radio now and no one really thinks about them except die hard directioners. Everyone else just makes fun of them.

Well to me I feel like they seem more popular then the Jonas Brothers . Even thought I really like them too I feel like they're just another boy band that might be forgotten in a couple years but you never know if that will even happen. I'm not even so sure about it.

To the answer above me. I actually like them for their voices and their songs. I didn't think they were cute when I first saw them. I think that they are now but at that time when I first found out who they were, not really. I think they sing well in my opinion.

Yes they will be. I've been following pop for years, I've seen heaps of guys like these come and go.

This is about 25 years ago and some boy band fans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyQqV6fp7Io As one person said, their kids are probably the One Direction fans now. The band these girls were fans of was Bros btw... heard of them? Probably not but they were nearly as famous as 1D and their fans behaved just the same way.

I guess we'll know in a few years time. Honestly no one can really tell you that but being a directioner I hope so! And even if they don't stay, they're making their time worth it by making really good songs, biographies, movie etc. to make sure they're remembered. No one stays forever, everything fades with time as they're replaced by new things but what matters is that they're leaving a valuable set of things to remember them by. (Even a perfume!) SO enjoy this while it lasts Wink

Yes all boy bands are just a fad until the next big thing comes along.
Boy bands just don't last very long.

Same thing happened with NSync, BSB,Hanson, New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees, Jonas Bros and etc.
They just don't have the talent and a fanbase that will actually stick around to keep them going for that long. Their fans will grow up and move on.

I'm a total directioner too, even though I am, I still believe that they are here to stay. They have great music, and not to mention great faces too Smile I still believe they are here to stay!

I agree with other answers. Time will tell but they probably are. It's nothing new..just the cycle of boy bands and teen heartthrobs. Of course they will never keep the hype but they will keep a solid fanbase if they evolve. I love the Jonas Brothers personally but the problem with them is they took steps backward and that helped their demise of fame. Their tv shows for example..I loved them but it was bad for their reputation. I know little about One Direction but if they keep doing songs like What Makes You Beautiful then they're toast. They have to show that they're more than just heartthrobs. If they are already doing that then great, you have nothing to worry about as a Directioner.
