Why do I get facebook notifications?

When someone adds a new photo? I understand that they're favorited, but most of the people are people that I haven't added to my favorites or close friends. Heck, some of them are people I dont even talk to. Did they add me to their favorites or is facebook just being stupid? Thanks in advance!!

Because when you added them or they added you, they might have the friendship as 'close friends' which means everytime you or that person does something on facebook one of you would get the notification.

To stop it go to the persons page
Click on the friendship
And un check the close friends or any others that are checked
Dont unfriend though lol

If u think that u r getting some notifications of people whom u ve not added as a favorite so again go to their profile and check it if mistakenly they r added,if no so simply go and unsubscribe them if u don't want to get any post or notification from them or unfriend them.
This problem might ve accured due to its more users,cuz facebook users ve increased very much in these days.

You can manage the notification settings from:
General Account Settings >> Notifications
Customize the settings as you require and you can limit the notification alerts.
