First of all, Lorazepam is NOT a good long term treatment for social anxiety, its usually prescribed when someone is having frequent panic attacks, and can't get them under control. Its prescribed for only short periods of time. Talk to your doctor about it, thats always the best way to go. Don't get advice from yahooanswers, because then you have people telling you to take all kinds of things. Also, antidepressants don't help a lot of people with anxiety, I have tried them all - _ - Certain benzodiazepines work much better for anxiety, but are much more difficult to get prescribed. So you'll probably be put on an SSRI like Zoloft, or Lexapro to start out with. They could work, but if they don't, eventually they'll have to put you on a benzodiazepine.

EDIT: Someone posted something about Lorazepam, thats why I went off on it.

Social anxiety is much more appropriately and successfully managed without medication. It is a therapy issue, with CBT being the most successful.
