How do you put a picture in your avatar picture in Yahoo answers?

like a picture of something you like a sunset or something, never figured that out. nor can I get it to work and just forgot how to even get to it. Thanks

To upload an image to your hard drve, RIGHT click the image, then LEFT click the "Save image as" option the drop down munu. Save the image as .jpg. or .Gif format image file. If your computer /device does not give you a choice of those image formats. there are FREE file format converters available online. Give the image file a name and save it to a folder or suflder that you can find again.

You will need to resize the image AND ADD it is a photo BEFORE you can upload the image as your avatar.


1. Go to the YAHOO home page, NOT the YA homepage.

2. Click your tiny little avatar. That will take you to your YAHOO profile page

3. Click the small small image where it says "Change photo"

4. Click the "Upload" arrow. That should open a new window Where you can

5. Click the folder where your pictures are.

6. Click any sub-folders you may have to open them.

6/7. Click the photo you want to choose as your YAHOO AND YA avatar

That will change your YA avatar too. I've JUST done this. I have YA open on another tab right now.

You can use a photo avatar or a cartoon avatar from another site, and if you have a Facebook or Twitter account, you can also use those avatars.

Go to: http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/privacy/ - make sure your profile isn't hidden, because if it is, your avatar won't show.

In case you want to use a Facebook or Twitter avatar, you need to link those accounts in the Profile options.

You have several options in case you want a photo avatar:
a) go to your Yahoo! Answers settings at http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity > click edit my preferences near your current pic > click "Update photo or avatar",
b) go to your Yahoo! Profile at http://profile.yahoo.com/ , click on the current avatar.
Now upload a picture or choose one of the pics you've uploaded previously.

Note 1: if you are on a mobile, you need to switch to desktop mode first in order for this to work.

Note 2: Yahoo no longer supports the creation of their cartoon avatars, sorry.
